Winter at the Arboretum

It’s always a good time to visit the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.

However, the advantage of a winter visit is the ability to see the structure and what makes it all work so well. And there's something about a winter sky and the special light of the setting sun.

Trees are the backbone of any garden, but this bur oak is the centerpiece.

The first post should be significant which means different things to different people.

If you’ve done online dating you know that nearly everyone believes they “have a good sense of humor.” After lots of first dates, you realize that it’s all open to interpretation. You also realize, “there’s someone for everyone (and it’s just not me).”

Since these are my inspirations and observations, it’s my interpretation. However I’m inspired by the following quote and it’ll be the basis for most posts. Remember, there’s someone for everyone and that applies to blogs too.

“To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.” Bessie Stanley (often attributed to Ralph Waldo Emerson)
